Recently we have been interested in a series of tripalladium sandwich complexes originally reported by Kurosawa and coworkers. These complexes [Pd3Tr2X3][PPh4](X = Cl, Br or I) are stable to moisture, heat and oxygen and can be substituted with a range of ligands. We have also demonstrated that by abstraction of a single halide atom from the parent complex one-dimensional polymers of formula [Pd3Tr2X2]n (X = Cl, Br or I) may also be formed. We are interested in the formation of large networks composed of individual sandwich complexes.

We have recently submitted our first results from this work, so stay tuned for more details!
